Answer simple online questions to automatically produce Risk Assessments, Method Statements and other documents.

What is a Risk Assessment?

A Risk Assessment is a process conducted to identify all the significant hazards associated with the work you or your organisation does. It helps identify all those who may be affected by those hazards.

Part of the Risk Assessment process is to produce documentation whereby you list the controls you have in place (including any training) for each risk, estimate the level of Risk of Injury bearing in mind the controls you have (or don’t have) in place – and finally decide/document any further controls you may need.

Risk Assessment (& COSHH Assessment)

The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) requires a Risk Assessment to be conducted as part of an organisation’s Health and Safety Policy. Risk Assessments can be categorised into two main areas:

1. General Risks. These include topics such as:

  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Adverse Weather Conditions
  • Falling Objects
  • Fork Lift Trucks & Other Mobile Plant
  • Lifting Equipment
  • Slips, Trips & Falls
  • Hot Work e.g. Welding/Soldering

2. Specific Hazards. These usually have a legal requirement to carry out specific Risk Assessments in a more prescriptive way. These include:

  • Hazardous Substances (COSHH)
  • Manual Handling
  • Fire
  • Work Equipment
  • Noise and Vibration
  • Working at Height
  • Asbestos
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Display Screen Equipment
  • Legionella

The HiViz Safety online software gives you the guidance you need to help complete the Risk Assessments necessary for your needs – from a straightforward General Risk Assessment to something which requires further detail – such as a COSHH Assessment.
